At St Luke’s Academy, we are committed to nurturing not just academic success, but also the emotional and mental well-being of every student. Raising awareness about mental health is a vital step in supporting our young people’s understanding and in breaking down the stigma that still surrounds these issues.

World Mental Health Day serves as a timely reminder of the importance of open conversations, support networks, and equipping students with lifelong coping strategies. With many mental health challenges beginning during adolescence, schools play a crucial role in early education and intervention.

This year, St Luke’s proudly took part in the national #HelloYellow campaign, launched by the charity YoungMinds in 2016. The initiative encourages schools, communities, and workplaces across the UK to wear yellow to show solidarity and remind young people that they are not alone.

By wearing yellow, engaging in mental health discussions, and participating in wellbeing-focused activities, our students and staff came together to promote a culture of empathy, awareness, and resilience.

Associate Principal, Mr. Thomas Green, said:

"Raising awareness of mental health is essential for every student to truly thrive — not just in school, but throughout life!"
